Full Version: Integrate wampp into winxp pe for project submission

Hi,
I would like to use PE as a static fully functional "web server on a cd" for client proposals and project submissions. I really like how the Friends of Apache xampp for windows works. How would I go about integrating a wampp into a bart pe disk? Thanks for your time and consideration.

It might be useful to compare notes with cabbie.
.... otherwise, more help and/or a plugin may be available here.
ahhh!, but you started the topic over there......
anyways... good luck!

note: pe discs aren't meant to be a full time replacement OS

Seriously though, PE discs are really NOT meant to be as full fledged OSes. They are only meant to be a means of recovering a system or diagnostics. If you really want it to be a live, on-the-go, full-fledged OS, then buy another license for your server product and go from there, as you can't have the OS on the CD AND the one that stays on your PC (or server) at the same time... at least that's what it sounds like you want to do. smile.gif

Hi,
I'm not looking for a full fledged OS, just a portable demo that can be used for onsite proposals or preliminary project submissions. I have actually been able to move the xampp dir from one virtual machine to another and then to a live host machine and have wampp work. What Im looking for is a realistic proposal tool that will show feasability, functionality and presentation. A PE wampp wouldn't be fully functional since the content, once placed on the PE disk, would be relatively static. However PE would allow a virtually fully functional model with static content. I'm hoping anyway. In terms of licensing, I would note that the copy would be a MSDN, or TechNet copy used for demo purpose only and since the content is static it would only be a demo.

What LittlBUGer was saying is that a PE enviroment is a stripped down version of Windows because its main focus was for diagnostics. That means that graphics, networking and other areas that aren't needed for these types of processes were removed or setup with limited functionality so that it could be run from a CD.

Now, I'm not saying what you want to do is possible or not... I was just rewording what LittlBUGer had said so don't get discouraged yet. Good luck with your quest either way.
