I have read a post about a program called "unISOfs" that was written as a commandline based utility used to extract the contents of an ISO image to a folder on your hard drive. You can read it here:
http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3338

I have found that the freeware program called MagicDisk can do a similar thing here:
http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-mag...sc-overview.htm

It is a very helpful utility designed for creating and managing virtual CD drives and CD/DVD discs. You can mount the UBCD4WIN ISO file and extract the contents to your local drive. You can mount several CD/DVD formats:

BIN (CDRWin)
IMA/IMG (Generic disk images)
CIF (Easy CD Creator)
NRG (Nero - Burning ROM)
IMG/CCD (CloneCD)
MDF/MDS (Fantom CD)
VCD (Farstone Virtual Drive)
VaporCD (Noum Vapor CDROM)
P01/MD1/XA (Gear)
VC4/000 (Virtual CD)
VDI (Virtuo CD Manager)
C2D (WinOnCD)
BWI/BWT (BlinkWrite)
CDI (DiscJuggler)
TAO/DAO (Duplicator)
PDI (Instant Copy)

MagicDisk acts as a virtual drive so you can mount an image and extract from it. Sorry, you cannot add to it though. They sell a product called MagicISO that can accomplish this at http://www.magiciso.com/https://www.ubcd4win.com/

Sorry for the commercial but the free MagicDisk version can come in really handy.

Have fun!!! banana.gif

MagicDisk is more like Daemon tools, unISOfs doesn't mount the image it just extracts the data. Magicdisk is a CD/DVD rom emulator so to copy files you need to mount the CD image first and then manually copy across the data.

Yea, I prefer Daemon-Tools anyway. smile.gif

I almost prefer MagicDisk because it installs cleaner and doesn't use a RootKit to beat DRM. I am just not sure if without it, it can be 100% effective. Ok...it may not be an "evil" rootkit but who knows. sad.gif
LittlBUGer
Errr, what are you talking about?

Using rootkits to defeat DRM

Daemon forum

Daemon Forum

Certain games won't run if they think the game is being run from a emulator so to get round this daemon tools is not using the rootkit trick so the game software can't detect it.

Alcohol and Daemon Tools Contain Rootkit

See, this is what happens when the media gets a hold of things, like the word "rootkit". Now everone thinks ALL "rootkits" are bad, though in this case, it is not. There's many reasons, including technical ones, that prove this isn't really a rootkit in terms of how most people know them today, but of course, it still comes up... :-\

You're right and I wish I never brought it up....lol. biggrin.gifThat's why I said "it may not be an "evil" rootkit".

Personally, I think its always a good idea to bring up all sides of a subject... even ones we may or may not agree with.

MagicDisk http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-mag...sc-overview.htm
is a virtual CD/DVD emulator much like:
Daemon-Tools http://www.daemon-tools.cc
or the Microsoft unsupported emulator http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/b...rolpanel_21.exe
or Alcohol http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

MagicDisk is free, supported and quiet easy to install and uninstall. banana.gif

I wrote unISOfs because I couldn't find a freeware utility that could extract the contents of an ISO image from the commandline or a batch file (and I also didn't want to have to run an installer first or reboot).

I might be wrong but I don't know of any other program that can do this. I published the main part of the source code on MSFN so that others can learn from it.

Tom,

You did a great job writing unISOfs. It filled your needs since you couldn't find something that would work in your environment and it can be used as a learning tool for others. I just wanted to chime in on one of the many virtual CD/DVD emulators that could extract the contents of an ISO image. I thought someone could use the information. I shouldn't have said that it could do a similar thing because it can't do batch or commandline extractions. surrender.gif

I think Steel may have thought you where promoting MagicDisk.

I do not presently, have ever, or will ever work for the company who wrote MagicDisk. I am just another techie in the trenches that wanted to pass on some unbiased information to the forum. surrender.gif
