Intel has quietly introduced a pair of 'Yonah'-based ultra-low voltage processors both of which consume, it is believed, no more than 5.5W but contain only one processing core and run over a reduced, 533MHz frontside bus.

ohmy.gifohmy.gif5.5w!!!!! These aren't quick, but very low power consumption although it isn't clear from the article if the 5.5w is at 100% cpu activity.

Errmm... aren't Intel chips usually around 80-100W, with AMD being around 50-70W? That seems a bit crazy... or maybe I read some information incorrectly... :-\

VIA produced a 7.5w cpu earlier in the year.

Ultra-efficient architecture, 90nm production and the new VIA V4 bus enables unprecedented fanless performance scaling up to 1.5GHz at no more than 7.5W, opening up new realms for silent yet powerful system design

So it's possible intel have got that sort of performance, but it they have I'd have thought they would have made a huge song and dance about it.
