I have made my first UBCD using the latest versions and the BTS drivers. The cd will boot and after the load status bar stops i get an error "file rr404.sys could not be found" and ends the installation. Any ideas of what i have done wrong?

You can do the above post or just use the standard 1.8 drivers instead of the BTS ones, as we aren't updating the BTS drivers pack anyway... smile.gif

Thanks for the assist. I did rename the plugin folder. I just checked it. So i guess I'll try the beta as suggested.

I'll try the 1.8 drivers first and see how that goes.

Ok im back again! I tried to build using BPE 3.1.10a, UBCD 2.6 and the 1.8 drivers and ended up with this error "file \i386\system32\vgaoem.fon could not be loaded. the error is 4096". So on that note i tried the Beta version following the post from here and editing the "!Critical: Joshuas-WinPE-PreLogon Config" entry in the plugins (as described in the post). Wala! the the build went fine and the CD boots and loads with out erros on my desktop (so far). However when i tried it with my notebook (older gateway solo 9300) it would not boot from cd. It would act like it was going to but then ended up booting from HDD after a while (several minutes) Yes i did check my boot order. BTW how do you load the 1.8 drivers in the beta or is there no need to? It does not appear to be the same procedure as the 2.6 version as there is no "drivers" folder created in the build folder.

Actually it is the same... but first you will need to create the drivers directory. That was a minor oversite which is resolved in the next release of the RC when it comes out.

some more news. I finally got the UBCD (beta) to work on my notebook! The problem was i was using a CDRW. when i burned to a CDR it boots and loads just fine. Now my question is, rdsok, you said that i need to create the driver directory. Does this mean i can simply create the folder in my pebuilder folder or is there some editing that needs to be done some where? Do i really need to add the 1.8 driver package when everything seems to load and work well?

Just create the directory... then extract the drivers files into that directory.. nothing special beyond that.

What you mentioned about CDR vs CDRW has been an issue with CD drives for a very long time. This is the main reason that the final CD I create is always on a CDR instead. It is just more compatible. The only time I have issues with the CDR's are typically on very old CD drives that are usually 12x or less ( but I have seen it also with a very cheap 24x also ). Basically this compatibilty comes down to the firmware that the drive uses, the drive must be able to recognise the format of the disk.

I thank you all for the help. Hope you dont mind all the questions?
