I have looked at the previous posts for this and modified the xml file to say highjackScan.cmd

It is still greyed out. Has something changed in the final release 3.0 that the previous solutions will not work?

Thanks for all the hard work!!! smile.gifclapping.gifbanana.gif

Some utilities, such as HiJackThis, Erunt, NTRegOpt etc, can only be run from within the Windows enviroment and not within the UBCD4Win enviroment... If you have autorun enabled... these are available then from Windows.

Isn't there a way to make it non greyed out though? Just in case I want to run it from the start menu? I can manually run highjackthis in PE. I would like to have the item not greyed out for my builds.

Thanks again for the prompt reply!!!

It will automatically be non-greyed out if you run the CD from within Windows. smile.gif

They do not work properly from a PE enviroment... so don't try to run them there.

People will do what they want, it's not our business to really tell them what to do. All we can do to try and help protect them can be changed. If they want to ignore our suggestions, that's up to them.
I'm thinking about maybe including an explanation and how-to on the FAQ page of the site for XML. I have so many other changes to make, so I don't know when I could have this completed.

Nobody is ever going to read the FAQ pages anyway.
OK, small attempt at humour.

In the XML files you will find a VISABILITY= section for each program entry. Remove this & they will always be usable in the menu, regardless of wiether or not they are of any value when running from PE.

EXAMPLE...
CODE
<!-- Nu2Menu entry for HijackThis -->
<NU2MENU>
<MENU ID="Programs">
<MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Malware Tools">Malware Tools</MITEM>
</MENU>
<MENU ID="Malware Tools">
<MITEM TYPE="ITEM" CMD="RUN" VISIBILITY="@FileExists(@GetWinDir()\setupldr.bin)" FUNC="@GetProgramDrive()\Programs\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe">HijackThis</MITEM>
</MENU>
</NU2MENU>

Would be changed to...
CODE
<!-- Nu2Menu entry for HijackThis -->
<NU2MENU>
<MENU ID="Programs">
<MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Malware Tools">Malware Tools</MITEM>
</MENU>
<MENU ID="Malware Tools">

@BCQuest

Your welcome, but keep in mind that these programs do not work as designed while running from PE which is why they were disable in the first place.

Knowledge is an interesting thing, so do what you want. This is why I have no problem making sure you know how, just keep in mind of the reasoning behind it.

THANX
