Hi,

I tried adding the Universal Network bootdisk v5.7 and a w2k registry repair utility (can be found here http://jayroos.com/tech/tips/32) to my UBCD4Win cd, but ran into the following problems

when I select the universal Network bootdisk from the menu, the screen than shows
"Bootable CD Wizard v2.0a1 ...."
Then just seems to hang there...

If I select the repistry repair utility it reloads the UBCD4Win CD and gives me the menu again...

for the inf's and ini's I pretty much just copied what was in the memtest.inf and ini...

I tried this with QEMU and a CD-RW both gave the same results...

Any idea as to what I've done wrong?
cdob
I've no idea about Universal Network Bootdisk.

Windows Registry Repair inf:

Does your w2krepair.iso contain a recovery console?
BCDW dosn't support that kind of ISO booting.

There is a recovery console solution alread.
Try add registry repair there.
bhunji
ya the w2krepair.iso contains a recovery console, and a commandline chkreg utility from microsoft. other than selecting the OS drive and maybe one other screen the process is all automated.

In case it helps, Network Boot Disk is here: http://www.netbootdisk.com

If you wanted more information to help. smile.gif

I have the Universal Network bootdisk working properly on a floppy disk, and if I copy the image to another floppy, that floppy also boots properly...

If I load the img in qemu I get
FATAL: int13_diskette_function:read error

but that's after it detects and loads network drivers, and it gets a lot further than when loaded within UBCD4Win...

I'll try recreating the img file, but I don't think my results will change...

Hi bhunji

Does the network boot disk boot without errors if the floppy disk is write protected ?
Some floppy boot disks give errors if write protected, so can not run on a CD.

I tried most of the hard disk diagnostics floppy disks, several would not work
(Hitachi / IBM DFT and Maxtor powermax) so I used the CD ISO version (image of a 2.88MB floppy)

regards

bhunji
ya, it boots from a write protected floppy, I also just burnt the unetbt57.img by itself to a cd-rw and was able to boot it in a regular cd-rom drive with no problems.
bhunji
I tried copying and adding a second cmdc folder and modified the cbdcini and inf files but when i load it in qemu it just loads the UBCD4Win gui.

after building the BartPE folder I copy in the extrated i386 folder, from the w2kregrepair.iso I created to a cmdc2 folder, and made sure it had the same folder structure as the CMDC folder.

Is there something else I need to modify? what are the @SourcePath lines? I kinda think I need to modify them...

Is it possible to have a second recovery console option?
cdob
No, don't edit @SourcePath@ lines.
Explanation: read files from windows source file directory. Use windows source TXTSETUP.SIF.

Try a second recocery console

okay I added both those files to a WindowsRCRP folder and tried to rebuild the BartPE folder,

But it couldn't find Chkreg.exe, and SPCMDCON.SYS

It was looking in here C:\_XPCD\i386\files which is in my XP source directory

so I added a 'files' directory to my windows source and copied those 2 files into it.

now when I build the BartPE folder, I'm still receiving the same message

It doesn't seem to be creating the C:\__new\BartPE\RCRP\files\ directory, but I think they should go directly into the RCRP folder instead...

Oh, I see where I can chnge it...
rdsok
In the Multi-Boot plugin that you are working on... say RCRP or whatever directory its in... that is where you were suppose to create a folder called "files" and place those two file into it... these will then get copied to the proper place as defined in the plugin.
bhunji
oooh okay, that's neat, I'll do that then.
bhunji
Thanks for your help, both boot plugins are working now.

For the Universal network boot disk, I guess there was something wrong with the image I originally created cause the new img file I made works fine.

Can you share your plugins woth others? smile.gif

Sure, what's the best way to share them?

I can create a cab file for each of them, but I don't know of anywhere I can upload them to for hosting...

Or if you want to build from scratch everything I used is located, or linked to, in this thread...

You can easily use RapidShare to distribute the files. There are many free file hosting sites on the NET, RapidShare is one of them.

nice. this will be a good way to fill the remaining 2 megs on my iso. tongue.gif
