Many tools included in DOS' UBCD are out of date. Many of them are also not needed considering the ones coming with UBCD4WIN. So, would not be better to make a stripped down version of UBCD with only tools that are really unique, such as hard drives tools?

TIA

That seems like A LOT of extra work, but if you want to try such a task, go right ahead. smile.gif

I agree with LB... and I think this may be a good place for you to get your feet wet in creating some of these plugins if that is what you desire. There are plenty of options already available that you can use as examples. Use some of the existing multi-boot options that already exist as well as the discussion you can find here http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5158 in which Gparted and Spinrite plugins were discussed.

You may want to note that for the hard drive diags... they will often check to see if a drive of that brand exists or not before they will actually work so if you are going to use one of these as a starting place.. make sure you have the brand drive that you are trying to make a diag plugin for.

You can also create a sub-menu for bcdw with all the hd tools in it, its pretty easy.

To use another bcdw_menu.ini use the following syntax in bcdw.ini....

\BCDW\BCDW2.INI ;Sub menu

This entry will re-start bcdw using the specified ini file. to return to the original menu use...

:Return

Bcdw has many undocumented features that we are trying to uncover & bring into the light.

We are working on a guide to bcdw, but with the limited availbility of existing information, it is a difficult task.
