This plugin will not work for GParted versions earlier than 025-3.

GParted
QUOTE

GParted is an industrial-strength package for creating, destroying, resizing, checking and copying partitions, and the file systems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, copying data residing on hard disks and mirroring one partition with another (disk imaging).

Download the plugin from HERE (59kb) and extract it to your multiboot-003 directory (it will automatically create a gparted subdirectory) then download gparted.iso (around 30mb) and place it in the multiboot-003\gparted\files directory and click the "Config" button from the UBCD4Win builder plugin screen to extract the iso and have the files put in place.

Now you're all set to rebuild UBCD4Win and select GParted from the boot menu

Thank goodness the developer finally switched to squashfs and got rid of those fake directories that were hanging around all over the place. With this latest release I can finally boot it with ISOLinux on my multiboot CD now. smile.gifThe next release of GParted should have some nice new moving features too.

Cheers

I made a plugin for version 025-1 HERE. It uses a custom initrd that mounts the iso image on the cd as a loop device instead of the actual cd as the main filesystem. The /linuxrc file in the compressed ramdisk image (gparted.gz) shows you how it's done so it might be worth checking out if you're into that kind of stuff and have other linux live cd's that aren't using cloop/squashfs images for the root filesystem.

I tested the plugin... but no.gifit did not work sad.gif

Here are snapshots of what I get on a real system (laptop):

IPB Image

then

IPB Image

I'm using gparted ver.025-3 livecd iso with the latest plugin. I extracted the iso manually using unisofs (by double clicking on the exe file and extract through the gui). I also have ubcd4dos mini and using cd-rw disk for testing.

Any help please? blush.gif

Disable the UBCD plugin. If there's a kernel named "linux" in the isolinux folder then it'll boot IT instead of the intended kernel and if there's an isolinux\isolunux.cfg file then delete it too.

Nice! I will most definitely take a look at it. smile.gif

Thank you for your reply and sorry to keep posting about my problems with this plugin. I read your other post about freeware and I know how you feel. I tried to solve the problems myself, but couldn't. And I'm posting here for the benefit of the community.

I tested the iso in qemu (with ubcd included) and gparted worked. So, I thought there was something wrong with the cd and I burned a new one. Using the new cd, I got the same kernel panic problem!! I decided to eliminate the cd burning error and created an image from the cd using CD Recording Wizard program. I then tested the resulted iso image file with qume and gparted worked blink.gifblink.gifblink.gifWHAT is happening here?! Why does not gparted like me ? wall.gif

All the tests were done using CD-RW disks burned by Nero 6. Have you tried CD-RW with this plugin?
hilander999
I would advise you try burning a real cd & see what happens.

Although others here will dissagree with me, that is why I will not use cd-rw media for any of my testing.

CD's are cheap these days & CD-RW is unpredictable from machine to machine & is comparable to useing only an emulator to test with, the results are not acurate enough to form an opinion.

No need to be sorry. I was just upset when I posted that because I just got done reading an email from someone being very DEMANDING that I change something in one of my free programs so it would better suit their needs.

I haven't tried a cd-rw yet. I used to use cd-rw's all the time but they're too sloooowwww especially if you have to rebuild and burn 15-20 times to get something right.

I'm burning to an rw right now so I'll post back and let you know how it went.

It booted fine on rw for me.

I agree with hilander999 though. It sees the drive ok but it's having trouble mounting the filesystem on it, try a cd-r and see if that takes care of the problem.
Fargo
Thank you guys. I'll try a CD-R and see.

I've been burning to a CD-RW for the last 15 to 20 builds and have had very little problems, it is getting a bit slower when accessing data but everything still works... All my CD/DVD drives are Lite-On on the 3 systems I currently run and they all seem to have no problems...

A new version of GParted is out - updates and bug fixes only - 0.2.5-4 - http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourcefor...ecd-0.2.5-4.iso

The new version works fine using Tom's / PCUser's plugin, except the new version doesn't have the livecd file in the ISO. I just deleted the livecd file and restored it back after extracting the new ISO into the folder.

Thanks for the info, I'll try to get an updated plugin made soon.
