Software giant Microsoft is not intent on competing with the open source community and is in fact is seeking further tie-ups with it, an executive at the ompany has said.

Earlier this month, a long-running dispute between Microsoft, and Novell, which is responsible for the Linux open source system, was settled.

It enabled Microsoft's Windows operating system to work better with Linux.
