Hello everybody,

Have somebody succeed to "Boot" with "UBCD4Win 3.0" on Usb Flash Key ? For me, it's work fine with "UBCD4Win 2.60" (BartPE) or "WinXPE", but not with "UBCD4Win 3.0". Could somebody who succeeded with it, built a tuto for us.

Many thanks !!!

Wait for a reply.

Please use the forum search to find info on this subject. It has been extensively discussed and is too complex to have to repeat all that applies here. There are a number of methods used and which one works for a system depends on the device itself as well as the system it is used on.

Hello LOL,

There is a discussion at this thread :

http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showto...in%20from%20usb

But no solution !!! I even gave a solution for "UBCD4Win 2.6" and "WinXPE". I want a solution for "UBCD4Win 3.0", because I know how to do for "Linux", "UBCD4Win 2.6", "BartPE" and "WinXPE". I have more than 2 years experience to "Boot" from USB Key or External Disk. I would want that somebody gives us a solution, because it is unthinkable that everybody looks for, while somebody found !!! One could have a real solution ? That's why I have create this Post.

Everybody need your advices !!!

Thanks in advance !!!

I guess you didn't understand me the first time...

What has worked for one system... does not for another... that means that there are several ways to make it work each dependant on the system it is being run on. The only way to tell if a method works on a system is to test the various ones. If you truly have more than 2 years experience in this area... you already know what I just said is correct and are just complaining without good cause... or it suggests you are exagerating your experience. The only way that there will be just one method to do this is if the hardware manufacturers finally use just one standard for all devices... until then each user must find out which way works for the equipment they own.

You are very impatient aren't you... Did you bother to read the thread? Let me jog your memory for you with MY post in that thread HERE at post #79.

As rdsok mentioned, there is no one shot that takes care of every situation. In my case it worked following the info I laid out in my post. I intentionally made it a bit vague so you have to look and learn and investigate to find your exact steps. All people can do here is say what works for them. If you are to LAZY to figure it out on your own, then so be it. Read my post as mentioned above and follow its basic instructions and piss off with your high and mighty attitude that we have to HAND you everything you want.

I normally do not get this angry but after you were told to search and you did nothing but tout how you are a "master" at USB booting and such but you didn't bother to read the very thread you stated as being the only one you found. I don't know why I bother... I will help people to the ends fo the earth as long as you prove that you are willing to look and learn. I once asked for stuff to be handed to me but when no one would help me on other sites and such, I finally bit the bullet and looked and learned and found out why and worked around and found ways to make it work.

Hello BvF7734,

Here are the results of my tests with your suggestion:

1) This works on a computer equipped only with IDE Disc.
2) This does not work with a computer equipped with SATA Disc ==> I have a Crash with this Message:

SESSION5_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

We could try to make < F6 > to resolve the problem, but I prefer not to use, because too much forcing.

Conclusion:

1) For " UBCD4WIN 3.0", I prefer to use the External Hard Disks USB 2.0 with my method described here:

http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6719

It has the merit to work on Computers equipped with IDE or SATA Disc, without making < F6 > to load Drivers.

2) For the use of the Key USB, I prefer to use my Applications in classic "BartPE" and "WinXPE". At least, I have no problem, in particular of recognition of Drivers and size of application. Indeed, when the application is too big, I have the another Crash for " Insufficient Memory ". What I never have with Classic "BartPE" and "WinXPE".

I would wait that all these problems are resolved to launch me again to make one " UBCD4Win 3.0" on Key USB.

In any cases, thank you all the same.

Regards.

All of the machine sthat I had tried mine in all had IDE and none had SATA drives. I actually did discover today that my key would not boot up on a SATA equipped machine. Although I had not though about the IDE versus SATA relationship until i read your post above. Very detailed and well thought out. I was going to try to look into this here shortly as i know what SATA stuff I need for my Dell GX280's and GX620's here at work.

If you have any thoughts on how to go about start the testing, i would like to hear them. I was thinking about picking through the 1.9 pack to see if i can find my particular driver and put just that one in and see what happens. I know that there is one that works in there as i have used the CD with the full 1.9 in it to great success on SATA based machines.
