Is Trend's SysClean a util that only scans for a limited number of infections or does it do a full scan for all known infections?

I believe it's a limited number but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully someone else can post further. smile.gif

It contains their full virus definition.. it really isn't a "full" AV program like several of the others included but it does have good detection rates.

Actually none of the AV programs really scan for all known virus infections.

That is why I love the UBCD4WIN project I run AVG Free full time and once a week or so I'll boot to an updated CDRW of UBCD4WIN and run all of he AV and AS apps. that are included and whatever I've added. I know a couple people that run 2 full featured AVs, but usually one has to have the resident sheild disabled.

I like it... its one of the better ones and I always use it when cleaning up systems along with the other standards.

My personal opinion is.....it kicks ASS!! Really!

I scan computers with AdAware and SpyBot first and then finish up with AVG AntiSpyware. AVG catches many other "infections" (if they exist) even after the other two.
The only thing I do not like about it is it's slow scanning engine, however with the results I accept it because it is catches more!

I've never gotten Sysclean to run. Everytime I tried it gave me some error about extracting the files to the RAM drive. I just disabled the plugin

I've never cared for it either but it does normally run for me... Trend Micro's method, in my mind, with how this is created is pretty messed up... first its a SFX that isn't very reliable on extraction so any little thing can corrupt it when it self extracts.. on a ram drive its even more sensitive than say extracting to a hard drive because of the added speed that ram drives have. That aside, they do have a good detection engine and their virus db is pretty complete as these go. In the end, I still use the other AV tools since they are more reliable when they run.
