Hi,

This seems like such a good idea, was a bit sad when the iso build didn't work.

Started with a pre SP1 XP Home disk. The slipstream to SP2 seemed to work OK. But build seemed to go haywire. I originally got 27 errors, most of them I fixed by switching off plugins, but the last 15 I'm stuck with.

Here are the errors from the build log...

"F:\iso\pre slip xp\I386\SP2.cab" returned error 13: The data is invalid.
Source file sp2.cab is corrupt.
Slipstream failed.

Something breakes running.

Does a Virus Scanner run? Does Norton AV run?
Make a RAM test.

Try boot in save mode. Start form scratch again.
Slipstream SP2 again.
Download UBCD4Win again. Check md5sum.

Slipstream to SP2 may have failed (you can't use a pre-SP1 to build the CD) and your XP CD path has spaces in it, which is probably bad. Remove the spaces and try slipstreaming SP2 into your XP CD on the HD manually (instead of using a program like AutoStreamer if you did). Also make sure you copied your entire XP CD to your HD and start fresh with the extraction of the UBCD4Win (always double-click it to run, DON'T use WinRAR or something similar to extract it). And don't remove or disable any plugins, yet. smile.gif

cdob & LittleBUger, You Rock!

Building on my old fileserver was a bad choice. Old Barton Core that's been OC'd to hell. Dodgy RAM a known. Hence relegated to file server.

Tryed again on spanking new Media Center PC, made sure to keep XP CD, SP2 & UBCD & Slipping directories apart, And it worked a treat. Media Center just spat the toasted CD, so I'm off to have a play smile.gif

Thanks guys, nice to see a good idea backed up by helpful usergroup. All power to your elbows!
