The directory and the tools you need to access need to already be in the image that you are including. In otherwords if this is a floppy image... the directory needs to be on that image that you created or are using.

I just tested this on VirtualBox:
When I boot my win98.iso using BCDW I let it boot and it ends up at A:\

The cd is listed as X:\ and I have no problem to use dir command to find the directories in X:\.
I can cd into x:\Programs without problems but then when I try to dir into any of the Programs\sub-directories it is not possible, the error message is:
Invalid directory

The directories in A:\ however are not visible, only systemfiles.

Which image did you include?
Did you include a floppy image or a harddisk image?

UBCD4Win use file system ISO9660:1999.

DOS mscdex access 8.0 folder names and 8.3 file names.
All chars have to be in uppercase.

i have create the ubcd4win iso.
than i have create a win98.iso from original win98 floppy with rawwrite.
than i have, with ultraiso, integrated the win98.iso into image dir and edit bcdw.ini and saved under ultraiso to a new ubcd4win.iso.
i boot now from my cd, select the new entry win98, win98 is boot, now i canīt with "cd" to change to a directory on the cd. for example: cd tools, cd programs, ....

is the mistake, that i have use ultraiso ?
which program can i use, to integrate any files in the ubcd4win.iso and create a ISO9660:1999 image ?
or must i create the win98 image with a another program ?

now i have made further tests.

the problem is obvious when the directory
are written in small letter !
for example i can change the PROGRAMS directory
(how bengt has sayed), but i canīt change to the tools directory !

A floppy dosn't use ISO9600 filesystem.
Don't call a floppy image .iso. Use name win98.img.

Yes, mscdex dosn't support small letters. That's why you have to use uppercase chars.
Don't use tools, use TOOLS instead.

You have to uppercase DOS names at hard disk first.

Write a plugin to integrate win98 floppy image, use DBAN as a example.
Create win98.img and ubcd4win.iso next.
