Hi,
I am trying to build an .iso but due to errors the builder-program fails to build one. Besides that I get two warnings: see text below:

Errors:
Fout: loadKey() mislukt

Fout: closeHive() mislukt: RegUnLoadKey (key="PEBuilder.exe-C:/UBCD4WIN/BARTPE/I386/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/petmphive") afgegeven foutcode 0: Toegang geweigerd.

Fout: DeleteFile() "C:\UBCD4WIN\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\petmphive" mislukt
Fout: DeleteFile() "C:\UBCD4WIN\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\petmphive.log" mislukt
Fout: DeleteFile() "C:\UBCD4WIN\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\setuphiv" mislukt
Fout: DeleteFile() "C:\UBCD4WIN\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\setuphiv.log" mislukt

Warnings:
Waarschuwing: Bouwen vanaf een OEM versie van Windows kan problemen veroorzaken...
Waarschuwing: Bestand "megasas.sys" niet gevonden

NB:
a) I am using a DELL-OEM XP-CD-ServicePack 2.
I already read the problems regarding DELL_PC’s in the FAQ’s. I followed the suggestions made to solve these problems. But nevertheless the builder will not produce an .iso.
cool.gifI tried building an .iso in safemode, but again: that does not solve my problem.

Who can????

Hi Willem

have you followed the faq ?

This looks like the problem with setupreg.hiv from Dell XP SP2 which has been modified to support SATA + RAID and no longer works with Barts pebuilder.exe

What steps are necessary when building with a Dell CD?
There several problems that you can run into when using a Dell CD or system:
▫You receive a "missing xxxxx.xxx file when booting UBCD4Win. Your Dell CD may contain other drivers that are needed for the system you are trying to boot the project with. Please post a question in the forum, we will try to help with this error.

▫You receive building errors when trying to build UBCD4Win with the Builder. This is a registry problem instructions are below:
1. Download the subinacl tool from Microsoft. Install this tool to the default "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" folder.
2. Download this dellregfix.cmd file.
3. Copy your Dell XP CD to a folder such as "C:\dellxpcd".
4. In your "C:\dellxpcd" folder find where the "setupreg.hiv" file is. You need to copy the subinacl.exe file from the "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" folder and the dellregfix.cmd files to this folder.
5. Now run the dellregfix.cmd file. Make sure you ONLY run this CMD script from within your "C:\dellxpcd" folder!
[then copy modified setupreg.hiv back to source folder]
This fix doesn't always work, I would give it a success rate of about 90%. If this does not work for you, please post in our support forum. We may be able to still help you.

Hi MBARNES,

I followed the FAQ's procedure, but it still won't work. Is there anything else I can do? I do not have a DELL-machine, but the XP-installation-CD I am trying to build the .iso with is originally from DELL.

Hi MBarnes,
Now I see I have some questions about de DELL/solution in the FAQ´s.
1. The FAQ´s suggest I put subinacl tool in de the C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" folder.
Question 1: I have no such folder.
And besides that: later on I should copy it to the folder where setupreg.hiv is located.
Question 2: why not copy subinacl tool directly to the folder where setupreg.hiv is located in the first place.
After running dellregfix.cmd in de XPCD-folder I should 'then copy modified setupreg.hiv back to source folder'.
Question 3: I don't understand: I did not copy setupreg.hiv anywhere in the first place, it is still in its original folder of the XPCD-folder.

I put these questions to you because maybe I don't understand the text of the FAQ's properly.
I'm I missing something??

Thanks
Willem

Hi Willem

The location
C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\

is probably the default location for subinacl.exe when it is installed as part of the resource kit (with a English version of XP)

subinacl.exe needs to be in the same folder as the setupreg.hiv and dellregfix.cmd

dellregfix.cmd will respond with a message of how many registry keys it has fixed

when I tried this I copied all the three files to c:\dellfix\ then copied the fixed setupreg.hiv back to c:\xpcd\i386

you could put dellregfix.cmd and subinacl.exe into c:\xpcd\i386 (which is where I would expect setupreg.hiv to be)

Hi Mike,

thanks for the answer. I again tried running the 'dell-fix.cmd', but I see now it results in an error-message in the DOS?-window. The error-message reads:
'Subinacl wordt niet herkend als een interne of externe opdracht, programma of batchbestand'.
In english:
'Subinacl is not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batch-file'.

Does this makes sense to you??

Oeps, I now see that you talk about subincl.exe. In my XPCD-folder is subincl.msi. That is a difference. Should I execute the .msi in order to get the .exe-file of subincl?? Or what should I do to get subincl.exe out of subincl.msi??

Yes, execute .msi file
Search subincl.exe at hard disk next, maybe programma folder.
Copy subincl.exe next.

Thanks guys,
I managed to build an .iso.
I saw a warning passing by: file megasas.sys not found. But since it was a warning I did not care.
I burned the .iso to a CD, and tried it an one of our PC's.
It booted alright, but when trying to setup windows an error-message appeared: megasas.sys not found. And that was all.
So obviously megasas.sys is vital for my UBCD for Windows.
My questions:
1) where do I find that file?
2) in what folder do I put it, so the isobuilder can find it when building the correct .iso.

Did you change anything in the build and/or enable the new BTS Mass Storage drivers? smile.gif
Willem
Hi,

I did not change anything in the build, but I did choose: '#Driverpack MassStorage text mode'.
Should I remove this choice?

Willem

PS
Is there anything like 'BTS' in the plugin-list?

I saw a warning passing by: file megasas.sys not found.

Missing files relate to a Dell OEM windows. Dell edited windows files.

Edited source txtsetup.sif, remove non windows default lines: remove megasas.sys lines.

Build again.

Hi Willem

The ubcd4win FAQ does not mention dellfix.inf plugin which is needed to provide the missing disk driver files.

I am sure there is a Dellfix plugin provided as part of ubcd4win.
(not sure of location as I have not got source at work, could be in oem1 or plugin)

This can be modified if it does not mention megasas.sys or if it does mention megasas.sys put a copy of this file in dellfix or dellfix\files.
This may be easier than editing txtsetup.sif

Hi Mike, thanks.

But I am no whizzkid. So I do not understand your suggestions. I understand there should be a plugin that could solve the problem of missing megasas.sys. But where do I find such a plugin?
And the lines you wrote on modifying the plugin I do not understand at all.
I hope you can find the time and opportunity to explain it again in simpler terms.

Hi cdob, thanks.
But I don't understand your suggestions. I'm afraid I'm not an PC-expert. Is there an easy way to explain what you mean?

Hi willem

look in i386 directory of your xp cd if megasas.sys or megasas.sy_ exists then this plugin will cure problem
place dellfix.inf in folder plugin\dellfix

The dellfix plugin is included in oem1\systemcore.inf ,
some latter versions of dell XP SP2 include more drivers than earlier versions

If Dell add name of device driver to text file txtsetup.sif but file not present you may get an error at boot up

it wont do any harm to repeat the plugin

dellfix.inf

Hi Mike,

next in my/our quest:

1) I found megasas.sys in the XPCD/i386 folder.
2) Where do I find dellfix.inf, otherwise I can't place it in plugin/dellfix.
3) I cannot find the folder plugin\dellfix. Can I make it myself?
4) I can find systemcore.inf: in oem1\!System-Core(022)\SystemCore.inf
5) I don't know what to do with systemcore.inf
6) I can find txtsetup.sif
7) I opened txtsetup.sif as txt.file and megasas.sys was mentioned several times.
8) I don't know what to do more with it.

Thanks, and Gr Willem

7) I opened txtsetup.sif as txt.file and megasas.sys was mentioned several times.

Remove all megasas.sys lines.

And remember, pressing F5 build a new ISO only at UBCD4Win Builder.

Thanks cdob,
but do you perhaps have an answer to the other questions in my earlier message?

Either edit txtsetup.sif.

Or edit dellfix.ini.

Yes don't edit systemcore.inf.
Yes you may create a file \dellfix\dellfix.inf yourself.
