Hi Hilander999,

i have the version McAfee virus scanner RamDisk + NaiUpdater + BartGui v1.4 with the sdatxxx.exe. But it dosen't matter witch version - I need only a working mcafee virusscanner in UBCD4Win!

Thanks!
SteelTrepid
It does matter what version. Software changes when new versions are released and usually new versions need different files and/or registry settings. McAfee is COMMERCIAL software that you have to own a license of and with any legal plugin for that software you should be required to put files from your install into the plugin.

So what version of McAfee do you own?

Hi Novell1

I still use McAfee plugin from BartPE which uses a few files to provide a Graphical front end to run command line version of McAfee av scanner which is contained in sdatxxx.exe along with anti virus definitions.

What do you mean by "Does not work" ?
(eg:- does not appear on menu, does not start, does not scan, crashes with or without a error message etc)

please give more details including sdatxxx.exe version
(I have not downloaded a new version for about 5 weeks)

I would expect the Mcafee_nu2menu.xml may need to be modified for ubcd4win, so it shows up with the other AV products

regards

Hi Mike,
the Version is Virusscan for win32 V4.40a with the dat sdat5106.exe. The problem is the correct Inf and xml file. It is on the menu on the UBCD4WIN but if i click it does not start. What I need is the content or file of mcafee.inf, mcafee_nu2menu.xml and mcafeeram_nu2menu. It would be nice if it would be on the menu Virusscanner.
Can you help me in that?

Thanks

What I need is the content or file of mcafee.inf, mcafee_nu2menu.xml and mcafeeram_nu2menu. It would be nice if it would be on the menu Virusscanner.

Get Bart's default plugin, part of PEBuilder package. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
Read mcafee.htm, get current sdat ftp://ftp.nai.com/pub/antivirus/superdat/intel/
Extract sdat files to files folder.
Use default mcafee.inf.

Hi cdob,

thanks for the tip!, but it did't work in UBCD4Win (it works on Bart CD). I get in the menu an error xpeinit.exe and the Mcafeeupdate does not work, also the mcafee minigui does not start.
I am looking for a working plugin with all mcafeeram.inf and xml files.

Read tip again, above does work at UBCD4Win.
As indicated, this is without mcafeeram.

There is a no xpeinit and Mcafeeupdate at default Bart's plugin.

As for a RamDisk + NaiUpdater + BartGui v1.4.
Do you use Sherpya's solution? http://oss.netfarm.it/winpe/

Add Bart's and Sherpya's plugin.
Don't enable Bart's plugin.

Enable mcafeeram-autounpack.inf and edit this line
CODE
[Software.AddReg]
;0x1,"Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\999","100","||%SystemRoot%\System32\autorun2mc.cmd"
0x1,"Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\999","100","||autorun2mc.cmd"

That's it.

Start again, remove all Mcafee files.

Add Bart's default plugin.

Add sherpya's default plugin, use [v1.4] Mcafee Ramdisk + NaiUpdater + BartGui.
Add current sdat*.exe

Enable mcafeeram-autounpack.inf and change one line as indicated previously.

No, I won't read your files.

Other idea:
mcafeeram-autounpack.inf is disabled by default.
This is not required.

Remove all mcafee files.

Add Bart's default mcafee plugin.
Add sherpya's default plugin, use [v1.4] Mcafee Ramdisk + NaiUpdater + BartGui.
Add current sdat*.exe

Do not edit a plugin file.

Boot UBCD4Win. Xpeinit.exe is not used.

Run yourself:
[RAMDISK] McAfee Anti-Virus scanner
Unpack Current Virus Definition to Ramdisk

Hi Cdob,

thanks for your patience!!!!!!!!!!
It's now working, the sdatxxx.exe was not under the directory \files!!!
But how can I change the Menu? Mcafee is now direkt under the Programs, it should be under Programs\Anti-Virus Tools\[Ramdisk] Mcafee Virenscanner.
How can I change the Menu?

I was unsuccessful in chabgeing the xmlfile.

Thanks a lot cdob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
