Full Version: NIC Driver problem (HP nx9010)

Hi,
We're using a BartPe bootdisk based on w2k3 sp2. When the bootdisk is loaded on a HP NX9010 laptop the laptop hangs/freeze when it's "installing network adapters...", I've put the NIC driver in the \drivers\NET\0001 folder.
If I remove the network driver from the \drivers\NET\0001 folder it don't hangs/freeze when it's "installing network adapters", it throws an error that the network card cannot be installed.
The NIC is a "National Semiconductor Corp. DP83815/816 10/100 MacPhyter PCI Adapter", the driver I use is the winXP driver from the HP website.
When I make a BartPE based on WinXP the network card is correctly installed and works fine.
Can it be a problem to use a XP driver in combination with a BartPE Windows2003 SP2? I've already searched for a w2k3 driver for the NIC but it can't find one. I've tried the driver from the chip-manufacturer and some driverpacks, that didn't worked also.
Does somebody have suggestions how I can solve this problem?

Greets,

Yes, it IS the problem with using drivers for XP even though you built the CD with a 2003 CD. Is there any reason that you must use a 2003 Server CD to build the CD, rather than XP? In any case, I'll try to find some 2003 Server drivers for you. smile.gif

I don't think a 2003 driver exists. So unless it's an absolute requirement, I'd say stick with using XP as the building source and not server 2003. smile.gif

Thanks for your reaction, we're trying to create one universal BartPe booting image for all our hardware in our network. Some hardware did require the windows 2003 building source, that's why we're using the 2003 as the building source.
Is there a workaroud for this driver problem?

Unless someone can come up with a custom driver and/or .inf file that works with the current driver, than probably no. Sorry. sad.gif
