Ok...

Now I have a cd with:
xp
knoppix
ubuntu
netboot

Now the last think I need to have THE PERFECT BOOT CD is the last versione of clonezilla. Yes I know it is still a beta but it works well and has some interesting futures.
Could you provide a plugin for Clonezilla 1.0.9-1?

Thanks
cdob
Use the existing CloneZilla v1.0.5-8 plugin.

And change CloneZilla.inf [SourceDisksFiles] section
CODE
[SourceDisksFiles]
;files\isolinux\initrd.gz=a,CloneZilla.gz,1
;files\isolinux\vmlinuz=a,CloneZilla,1
files\casper\initrd1.img=a,CloneZilla.gz,1
files\casper\vmlinuz1=a,CloneZilla,1
files\isolinux\isolinux.bin=a,,1
CloneZilla.ini=c,,1
Actually not nice: *.img renamed to *.gz.
Contray this does boot. Maybe change this, if Clonezilla 1.0.9 is released finally.

There's going to be a problem getting Ubuntu and CloneZilla to boot from the same dvd this way. Both have the same file/folder structure and are using the same filenames. Plugins are processed alphabetically so if you enable both plugins at the same time then the CloneZilla filesystem (casper\filesystem.squashfs) will be over written by the Ubuntu filesystem with the same name. I don't know of any way to work around this issue.

In a perfect world, ALL live cd based linux distros would support a boot parameter in isolinux.cfg that specifies a subfolder on the cd/dvd that it can be nested in.

Wait, what?? I thought Linux was perfect?? It's open source and all the geeks are working on making it the perfect OS right?

Damn, guess I'll still suffer with Vista! Oh well it has performed a LOT better than Ubuntu did on my laptop!!!!!

Sorry everyone, I'm just in a "smart ass" mood and continuing to be happy with Vista and being a smart ass......with the Linux and Mac crowds!!

You're telling me! I have managed to get pretty much every Live distro I wanted to work in another folder (in my case /LINUX), except for Ubuntu, CloneZilla and any other one that uses that pain in the butt casper system.

PartedMagic - Easy - Download the PXE version and change the isolinux paths

Knoppix and Knoppix based (DSL..etc) - Easy because of the cheatcodes (you can also change the variables KNOPPIX_DIR and KNOPPIX_NAME in linuxrc inside initrd)

Slax - Super easy. Just change the isolinux.cfg paths and you're good to go.

ZenWalk - have to change some stuff to have both Slax and ZenWalk on the same disc (rename livecd.sgn). liblinuxlive needs some variables changed (LIVECDSGN and LIVECDNAME). from=/LINUX needed to be added to the isolinux append line as well.

Fedora - have to change variables (OSMINSQFS, EXT3FS, SQUASHED) and paths in init inside initrd (which by the way Fedora should be smacked for calling a gzipped initrd file initrd0.img!)

OpenSuSE - have to change variables (LIVECD_CONFIG) in init and linuxrc (so config.isoclient can be found) inside initrd and change the path inside config.isoclient to point to the new location.

Mandriva - have to change variable in linuxrc (LABEL to your disc label) and change the path so it can find distrib.sqfs

Ubuntu - still trying to figure out exactly where it's getting the path from

CloneZilla - S03prep-drbl-clonezilla (in ocs-live.d) needs to have paths changed so it can find the pkg folder and so it can copy over /etc/ocs/ocs-live.conf from the new location. S03prep-drbl-clonezilla and S05kbd-conf (the files in ocs-live.d) are called by S99start-ocs-live which is in /etc/rcS.d in the squashfs system. You need to change S99start-ocs-live so that it can find the ocs-live.d directory in its new location. Thats about as far as I've gotten with moving CloneZilla to a different folder. Once I get that working its back to figuring out where it gets its path from like Ubuntu.

Ok

after reading your posts I see that it is quite hard to have ubuntu and clonezilla working together on the same cd
However now I have an already working cd with:

a)xp
b)knoppix 5.1
c)netbootdisk

and if I must choose between Clonezilla or Ubuntu....I simply choose Clonezilla! (also because I already have knoppix that is very good)
In my opinion it isnt' a big problem if Ubuntu and Clonezzila can't coexsist on the same live cd....please provide the plugin for last version of Clonezilla.

Thanks

HERE'S the plugin. Extract it to your %UBCD4Win%\plugin\multiboot-003 folder and rebuild your cd/dvd.

Figured it out!

Ubuntu - you need to change some stuff in the casper file in the initrd. (in the scripts folder). change all $path/casper to $path/new_path/casper. change $mountpoint/.disk/casper-uuid to $mountpoint/new_path/.disk/casper-uuid. change all $directory/casper to $/directory/new_path/casper.

CloneZilla - requires the above, plus S99start-ocs-live (see my last post) has to be changed meaning you need to mount the squashfs image copy everything to another folder, make the change, and then create a new squashfs image. I haven't done this yet, but I'm fairly certain it will work.

Gentoo - you need to change the file copy path in init (in initrd) under "Mounting Squashfs filesystem". you also need to add SUBDIR=new_path to your isolinux append line. This will also work for CloneGenius 2008.

Pcuser thanks a lot for Clonezilla Plugin! On monday I'll try although I'm sure it will work.

Jotnar thanks for your suggestion too. However for the moment I'll use clonezilla with knoppix..
Anyway...could you make some test and write a step by step guide?

You can download the changed files here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/85600510/clonezilla.zip.html

Its about 10mb. There an included readme.txt. Basically this assumes that you put the clonezilla files in /LINUX/CLONEZILLA on your disc. Create those folders and extract the contents of the clonezilla cd into the CLONEZILLA folder. Copy my files over the default ones and then build the iso. If anyone wants to turn it into a plugin, you're more than welcome. I also kinda cheated and didn't change the squashfs file, since I didn't want to upload 75mb. Instead I just overwrite the the old S99start-ocs-live with the new correct one at the end of the casper script.

You can launch it from ISOLinux using the following:
CODE
menu label ^1)  Boot CloneZilla
    kernel /linux/clonezilla/casper/vmlinuz1
    append initrd=/linux/clonezilla/casper/initrd1.img boot=casper username=casper vga=788 ip=frommedia

Cheers

** Sorry about RapidShare, but I don't have anywhere else to upload large files.
