Hello Everyone,

We're getting in new machines that are pre-loaded with Vista. We much prefer XP, so we have been overwriting with an image that has all of the software the users need in an updated XP installation.

Recently we started getting SATA drives, which XP doesn't see. The UNCD4Win sees these drives and allows me to ghost an image to them, but without the correct driver the machine fails to boot. sad.gif

I'm playing around with *restricted project name, please email Ben for support* trying to make a new XP install CD that includes the more common sata drivers that are available for XP.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Jimmy

n-l-i-t-e is probably one of the easiest ways to customize your XP CD, though if you only wish to add great driver support, then just add the BTS driver packs that you need to your XP install ( http://www.driverpacks.net ). I usually only use n-l-i-t-e if I need to modify other things than just drivers. smile.gif

Version 3.11 of UBCD4Win has an excellent new addition written by cbob called Fix-HDC (look in the Registry section) which is based off of the existing Fix-IDE plugin but uses current bts drivers from the cd instead of the static way Fix-IDE worked.

quoted by cdob:
QUOTE
Fix_hdc combines Markus's fixIDE and BTS masstorage drivers.
That way a current mass storage controller is supported.

Example:
A user installed windows XP at a ICH7 machine.
IDE emulation mode was used. Now the user like to use AHCI.
Goto BIOS set AHCI mode. Windows XP dosn't boot, there is a BSOD 0x7b.
