HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ImDisk\ImagePath
If the path is fixed then imdisk runs fine again.

I am trying to boot BartPE from a 1GB usb stick, on an old Dynabook Satellite J11 laptop (256MB ram).
I used an untouched XP SP3 cd to build the BartPE files (on a machine also running xp sp3), and I only made the following changes before building:
-added mozilla firefox plugin by Sherpya
-added mozilla firefox flash plugin by Sherpya
-enabled RpcSS needs to launch DComLaunchService first plugin
-added the laptop's network card driver
The laptop's bios doesn't support booting from any usb devices, so I ran UBUSB.exe (10.0.0.51) with it's default configuration to prepare the usb stick, and burned the produced NoUSB.iso to a cd-rw.
The cd booted to grub4dos but both of the boot options (normal and Memory mapped) gave the following error:
Quote
So I added this --heads=0 to the map command, and then I got another error which told me to add --sectors-per-track=0 to the map command.
After adding those, I got the following message:
Quote
Autodetet sectors-per-track failed. Use default value 63
Then in the normal boot option, the following showed after the message above:
Quote
(the 0x06 number was different)
and the pc just froze after that.
And in the Memory mapped boot option, the following error showed after the autodetect failed message:
Quote
Press any key to continue...
and pressing any key took me back to the grub4dos menu.
I tried all the 4 different file system formats (fat 32/16, lba/chs) available in UBUSB.exe, and in all cases there was the --heads=0 error and the --sectors-per-track=0 error. And after adding them, the Memory mapped boot option always ended up with error 17.
The fat 32 chs file system (normal boot) also ended up in a hang like the lba one.
But in the fat 16 chs file system (normal boot) there was this message:
Quote
Press any key to restart
after the autodetect failed message.
And in the fat 16 lba file system (normal boot), it went past the message, and the BartPE loading bar finally showed but it ended up in a stop: 0x0000007B bsod.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Can you say... false positive...
Here are the results from VirusTotal which scanned the file with 42 different protection softwares ( including Microsoft's own ) and found no infections what-so-ever... http://www.virustota...308a-1281028605

It wasn't being reported from anything they were using at their work ... it was the Microsoft SmartScreenŽ Filter in IE8 that was doing it... the odd part is that the MS scan on VirusTotal actually shows it as a safe/uninfected file. As I mentioned earlier, it is a false positive... users should click on the report as safe option in the notice ( after they test it for themselves of course ) and not just make any assumption without something substantial to back it up.
False positives are a simple fact of life and just happen... but users have to realise that and just be thankful that their protection software errors on the side of caution at times but isn't always 100% correct.

Is there any way to download the complete thread to Word? I`ve tried both downloading
and printing and only get the first page. I wanted to put it in Word, weed out
duplications and study the result to see why I keep getting the error 75. I work long hours
so can`t be here in a timely manner to reply and would like to be able to ask
coherent questions when I do post.
Thanks, Plain

When I hit the go button a message comes up telling me I`m
about to wipe out all data on disk. Then it gives me the information
I need to determine if it is the proper disk, which it always is,
and it gives me the letters of my two partitions.
If I choose "Don`t modify Partition Table" on the exe it is supposed
to leave the second partition alone, right?

first it copis image to usb, and begin compression of the image on the USB.
It would be much faster if it prepear everything on HDD and copies to USB upon all data is ready.
Utilty is already prepearing the drive during 3 hours and I can not see the finish.
