I would like to update syslinux to the latest version - i notice from the log that UBUSB extracts the syslinux files but from where?

    It's embedded in UBUSB.exe

in the log it looks like you use "syslinux.exe x: -f" when i use that command on the latest version it doesnt work (infact i think it creates a file in the local folder called -f) just "syslinux.exe x:" works for the latest version.

They changed the syntax in newer versions so the only way to do it for the moment is to run it manually.

    Does /verbose still work ?

    Yes

Close all applications with access to F: first.

Please clarify the first post in this thread that NoUSB.iso is the "kicker" CD you need to burn for booting on non-USB bootable computers. I burned the kicker.iso with Nero which acts like it tries to boot but doesn't boot the USB stick. I had to read quite a few posts before I figured out I burned the wrong image.

I was forced to try this because one of my test machines has decided it doesn't want to boot UBCD4Win CD's any longer. The CD's work on most computers but not a few older Intel P4 era machines. I've burned at slower speeds, changed CD/DVD drives but none of that has helped. USB boot with kicker CD to the rescue! Anyway, it worked minus a few errors along the way. I'll test on more hardware in the future and likely have more to report.

Use ImgBurn instead of Nero as we've suggested all along... ImgBurn is the most reliable burning software we know of.

I've used Nero for years and tend to like it. I hate change. :P
