    Hello,

I'm new here and I managed to build a couple of USBs and ISOs. I was wondering how can I cange the "About" part though. I used Regedit and changed it while I had the UBCD booted and after I restarted it went back to the default. I currently says "Build date", "name Jason B...." and "Ultimate Boot 3.22".

How can I change that to something custom?

    Thanks

A program's, or in this case the whole project's about information is there for a reason... it isn't there to be changed so you can plagiarize it and try to pass it off as your own work.
Plan A is always more effective when the device you are working on understands that Plan B involves either a large hammer or screwdriver....

It's actually VERY easy to do, just follow the simple guidelines listed below:

          • Learn everything there is to know about Bart's Pebuilder.
          • Gather all existing plug-ins you can find for the software you want to have in your custom build.
          • Create plug-ins for most of the software you need since the plug-ins or normally either broken or do not exist.
          • Gather a group of the "Right" people and commutatively spend several thousand hours creating and debugging your "Custom" build.
          • Recruit the best minds in the field to help advance the working knowledge of PE as a platform for your custom build.
          • Bang your head on the keyboard repeatedly when things simply will not work.
          • Spend 9 months dissecting the windows registry until your knowledge surpasses the best minds in the business.
          • Find and fix the ONE BAD LINE OF CODE, in a 25,000 line plug-in.
          • Bang head on another solid object, but save your keyboard this time as they get expensive after a while.
          • Recruit some poor unsuspecting sole to help you find the still remaining ONE BAD LINE OF CODE in the same 25,000 line plug-in.
          • Rejoice 2 weeks latter when it actually works.
          • Bang head on many objects, including the cat, out of joy for finding that ONE BAD LINE OF CODE amung 25,000 lines of perfection.
          • Realize that after all of that work that your hard drive is not accessible after booting your custom build.
          • Find, sort and combine a set of drivers for the most common SATA controllers and realize that fixing one driver, means breaking 6 others.
          • Boot your new custom build to get a big fat BSOD, then bang head on keyboard again, this time we have a backup so it's OK.
          • Design a working model of how drivers need to be loaded despite all evidence to the contrary.
          • Recruit another poor unsuspecting sole and spend the next 4 months on the phone trying to explain to him how it must work.
          • Kick the cat, he just jumped on the keyboard and ruined 5 hours of work.
          • Rejoice when mass storage drivers can be added at the click of a mouse for the first time.
          • Realize that there is a 81 driver limit on txtmode drivers and understand that all of that work just went down the toilet and start over from scratch.
          • Yell, Scream & Argue, it will do no good until you convince the other side of the conversation to simply "DO IT ANYWAYS, Prove me wrong"
          • Have a flash vision of cdob falling out of his chair when compressed drivers are found to be the key to breaking the 81 driver limit and actually worked.
          • Recruit users who have asked way too many dumb questions in the past and get them to start answering these posts so you can do something meaningful.
          • Answer questions in a way that makes people feel the need to press that "DONATE" button.
          • Release your custom build to the entire planet, for FREE.
          • Explain to the community that you cannot test the error they reported because your PC is ancient and takes 45 minutes to build the damn ISO.
          • THANK ALL OF YOUR FANS WHEN THEY, AS A COMMUNITY, purchase brand new, nearly-state-of-the-art systems for most of the development team.
          • Jump version numbers to 3.x and burn 6TB of bandwidth in 4 days.
          • Apologize for the lack of bandwidth and recruit MIRRORS who have some bandwidth they are not using and want to give something back.
          • Explain again & again that this work is free, but still under copyright and we do not condone pirating or plagiarizing or hard work.
          • File law suites and injunctions against the people selling your free work on ebay.
          • Split the money from those nice ebay folks with the development team and go to the nearest strip club with a whole lot of one dollar bills.
          • Answer a question, in a way that makes the community start a donation rally to purchase a license for Bart's Pebuilder without being asked.
          • Order that *Roughly $900USD license for pebuilder and have Bart compile your own version, complete with the ABOUT SECTION modified to your liking.

SEE, That was'nt so bad bad after all, was it?:

BTW: There's always option #2: Leave it alone, save $900 and press the DONATE BUTTON just for the hell of it.

Look, ill help you if no one else here will.....

              1) Open a command prompt (Start>Run>cmd)
              2) Navigate to your ubcd4win folder
              3) Type "debug"
              4) Enter the following lines one at a time, pressing enter at the end of each line

              -F 220 L1000 0 (ENTER)

              -A CS: 100 (ENTER)

              xxxx:0100 MOV AX,301 (ENTER)

              xxxx:0103 MOV BX,200 (ENTER)

              xxxx:0106 MOV CX,1 (ENTER)

              xxxx:0109 MOV DX,80 (ENTER)

              xxxx:010C INT 13 (ENTER)

              xxxx:010E INT 20 (ENTER)

              xxxx:0110 (ENTER) <-------BLANK LINE "VERY IMPORTANT" >

              -G (ENTER)

              5) You'll need to restart the PC as the file will be in use from the above steps. But then you'll be able to edit ubcd4win as much as you like!

Thats of course after you realise the above wipes your drive and after youve reinstalled windows and all our programs and come to realise piracy and plagiarism ISNT cool

That depends on what letterhead your stationary has printed on the top.
