Hi Girish
there is a section in General dealing with V3 rc5 issues, one mentions the default settings for ACPIoptions is 0 = off needed for some old PC's others need 2 in plugin\!critical\usersettings\usersettings.inf [SetValue] ;******************************************************************************* ******** ; Advanced Computer Power Interface (Hilander999) * ; * ; 0: ACPI is disabled at installation, regardless of the system BIOS. * ; 1: ACPI is enabled at installation if an ACPI BIOS is present * ; 2: ACPI is enabled on the basis of the GoodACPIBios list and the ACPIBiosDate. * ; * ; If the BIOS is NOT in the "bad BIOS" list, and the date of the BIOS is later * ; than January 1, 1999, the BIOS is assumed to be a good BIOS and the ACPI HAL * ; is installed. If the BIOS is in the "good BIOS" list, the ACPI HAL is installed.* ; * ;******************************************************************************* ******** ; Set the ACPI BIOS DATE HERE... "Txtsetup.sif","ACPIOptions","ACPIBiosDate","01,01,1999" ; Set the ACPI Mode here... (0 = Disabled By Default. ACPI is not needed) "Txtsetup.sif","ACPIOptions","ACPIEnable","2" ----------------- this assumes this PC is working correctly and can boot off other CD's such as Win XP etc and has a reasonable amount of memory > 128MB and UBCD4Win cd is not faulty (burnt at too high a speed etc) regards Mike Barnes ---------------- regards Mike barnes |

Plus the fact that, with RC5, pebuilder is already included, so you DON'T need to download pebuilder seperately, otherwise it might screw some things up. This has been mentioned many times here, especially in the forum topic with the instructions on how to build with RC5. (IMG:http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just so you know, version 3.0 RC5 is still very much beta and thus the only real instructions for it are here in the forums and not on the main page. The stable official version is still 2.6. (IMG:http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi,
I does boot well but it doesnt connect to internet via HP 802.11b WLAN . I saw the entry for HP card in drivers pack. It does show the Icon but when I click to find view available networks, It doesnt detect any or doesnt even try to. neithe it disable and enable the adapter. Does wireless internet work with UBCD? Thanks Girish |

Thanks a lot rdsok and Joshua !! This works great !!!! UBCD rocks.
I have compaq laptop and Toshiba HDD is giving SMART failure. Since its still in warranty , I'm gonna send it to Service centre. Which is in Cali and I'm in North east. So definitely Its gonna take long time to come back and as we are just handicapped without PC/Internet. Now I have no worries Thats why I said UBCD is great stuff indeed. Cheers Girish
