Win XP Wrong Version. What's this about?

File version "F:\XP\i38ntdll.dll" is 5.1.2600.0 should be 5.1.2600.1045 or higher.

Does this mean I'm toast. This the only CD I own.
SteelTrepid
I can't remember all the different version numbers and what version of XP they are, but I think the CD you have is pre-SP1. If that is true, you are not toast. You just need to create a slipstreamed XP CD using AutoStreamer. You only need your original XP CD, AutoStreamer software (free download and very small), and SP1 or SP2 network install download (links are provided on my site). Read up on it on the site for this project:

What version of XP is it (meaning either SP1 or SP2 or none) and did you slipstream using AutoStreamer? What steps did you take in building the CD and/or using AutoStreamer? Is it an English version of XP? Any more information would be helpful. Thanks. smile.gif

LOL... Steel posted right before I got mine done...

HA HA!! tongue.gifNot bad for an old man, aye??

I don't hink I'm too old, only 56. He, He, He wink.gif

I don't know if it pre-sp-1, however it is pre-sp-2.
SteelTrepid
Slipstream it with AutoStreamer then. It should work for you after that. BTW, what is reporting the wrong version??

Using PEBuilder after selecting all the paths, a popup follows hitting the build button:

Is a "Real" program and spyware-free?
SteelTrepid
Well we've been recommending it since the author coded it for me since June or July of 04. I wouldn't promote anything that contains spyware, trojans, viruses, etc. No members of the forum or users of the project have emailed me or posted any negative responses from using it.

This project has been around for over 10 months now.....I think we have some credibility.

LittlBUGer, your are quite the "Grapic Artist" I have been lead to believe. I like what little I've seen.

Alright, I've got a CD fron the early days at microsoft and all I want to do is take a HDD off the shelf and stick XP into it, no muss, no fuss and no floppies. I would like sp-1 & sp-2, and some system drivers.

Sound like a plan, good.
Now I love what you guys are doing here, I have been all over the web looking like minded

And, YES, I still use 6 floppies to load my systems. HAve I left anything out? wink.gif

So you want to install XP freshly on a brand new HD? No problem. Just use AutoStreamer on another system to slipstream SP2 into your XP CD to create a new installation CD that has SP2 integrated into it. Then, boot your computer from that CD and install Windows from there on the new HD. Should be pretty straight-forward. If it asks to format the HD (even though it is new and may already be formatted) just let it do a full format anyway. If you have any problems with this, you can post a new topic in the appropriate section of the forums or PM me directly. smile.gif

If you want to use our CD, go right ahead and let us know how it goes. Our CD is NOT for installing XP though, it's for trouble-shooted and repairing dead computers or HDs basically.

And lastly, no, I am definitely not the "Graphic Artist" as I did not create my avatar or my signature pictures. I have several different kinds buy they were all kindly made by someone else for me per my request. Though, I know how to do some things with graphics, I'm mainly a hardcore gamer/IT/programmer person. biggrin.gifWhich reminds me, I may need a new signature picture and avatar... hmmm.... smile.gif

Hmmm....interesting question??

I believe, where I am missing the ride is I do not have a bootable XP CD.

PEBuilder - Wrong build

ISO Buster - Wrong build

I am Toast........ Thanx, Gang I will work on this project and start a new post.
LittlBUGer
I don't see how you could not have a bootable CD, as all XP CDs are bootable. What happens when you use AutoStreamer? Any specific messages? Have you tried copying the CD to your HD first and pointing AUtoStreamer/PEbuilder there? smile.gif
bobbycanada
Yea, It tells me I got the wrong version. I am going to work on this deal again tonight and go through every detail.

Try rebuillding your original winxp disc and see if that helps.

Download update zip from here and follow the instructions on option 3 and copy the contents of your winxp disc to your hdd and then create a new ISO. This will put a new boot information on the CD and may solve your problem.

You don't have a old beta version of XP do you???

Are you trying to slipstream on a XP PC?

Is your serial legal?
