Thanks Stidy for the updaters and keeping us informed of updates... clapping.gif

I agree. I still use this tool a very often and it helps when stidyup keeps the wheels rolling.

Kudos to you!

@Stidy:

Could you take a look at the newest .bat files? I tried to update last night by adding the newest "PAVUpdate" subfolder and contents to my existing C:\PublicAV folder structure. Nothing updates because the files already exist, according to what I am seeing.

Also, is there a way to log the update? Many times I start the custom update and walk away to do something else. It'd be nice to have a log file that shows what was updated when the process is done.

Thanks for all your work!
stidyup
If someone can tell me how to add a log file, I can certainly do it.

Did you get a message saying file exists and can't update, error 80 of something?

If so I had the exact same message today, it took me a while to figure out it was spyware terminator causing the problem, when I disabled the active shield it all worked. If you have this installed it could this causing the problem.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get the pav update up with the new MS Malicious removal tool updated.

If someone can tell me how to add a log file, I can certainly do it.

I just run mine like this:

CPAVCustom......bat > pavupd.txt

and you get a text file that shows all commands. I use this so I can see issues with Mcafee and Norton.

BTW,

I have eliminated my downloading issues with Mcafee, Norton, dr-web cureit and the lpn.zip file by using wget instead of download.exe. The only problem is that I get multiple downloads from Norton because I haven't figured out the wildcard correctly yet. You have to put wget in the PAVUpdat folder once you download it.

Here's my file:

Try disabling Defender... it also has a resident module similar to Terminator. If that works you should look to seeing how to exclude download.exe ( or whatever terminology it uses ).

Thanks, I'll try that as well. I also want to try nw's wget suggestion. I might "roll my own" update .bat and offer it up when I get time.

I just run mine like this:

CPAVCustom......bat > pavupd.txt

and you get a text file that shows all commands. I use this so I can see issues with Mcafee and Norton.

Where in the .bat file do you add this?

I don't have it in the bat file, although you could create a cmd or bat file that would call the custompav bat file. I type that line into a command prompt. As the updates are running, you can open the file and review. I use Textpad becuase it refreshes while you're still viewing the text file.

If you pipe the results to a text file, remember that the output on the command line window will be a little different than if you just run the bat file alone.

I have found the problem with my Mcafee, Norton, and Trend Micro updates - Windows SP2 firewall. I installed Zone Alarm and, so far at least, download.exe is working fine and it's so much faster now. I was beta testing MS's Live Care but that's over now.

I am getting an error regarding latest.exe - it's not a valid win32 application pops up. I'm working on this right now and I'll keep you posted. It may be a fluke on my system (probably)

The section for XBlock is listed like this:

Echo Updating Xbloker
%PublicAV%\PAVUpdat\download http://www.xblock.com/%PublicAV%\PAVU...clean_micro.exe /update /output:%PublicAV%\Spyware\Xblocker

It should read:

Echo Updating Xblocker
%PublicAV%\PAVUpdat\download http://www.xblock.com/download/xclean_micro.exe /update /output:%PublicAV%\Spyware\Xblocker

I don't know how the %PublicAV%\PAVUpdat\ got in the middle of the URL but I keep forgetting to mention it.

The PC Wizard file has changed to 1.69 so that section should now read:

Echo Downloading PC Wizard
%PublicAV%\PAVUpdat\download http://www.cpuid.org/download/pcw2006_v169.zip /update /output:%PublicAV%\WinTools\sysinfo\pcw2006_v169.zip

Change the Windows Malicious Tool to read this:

download http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/a...90830-V1.20.exe /update /output:%PublicAV%/security/Winremtl

the /update needed a space between it and the .exe

Change the KASFX.exe section to read:

http://www.claymania.com/KASFX.EXE /update /output:%PublicAV%\WinTools\AVScan\KASFX\KASFX.EXE

I couldn't find it on the original http://www.tbgnetworks.com/spyware/KASFX.exe link.

Change the Data Recovery section to read:

Download http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/DataRecovery_EN.zip /update /output:%PublicAV%\Wintools\FileRec\datarec\DataRec.zip

the original "tomato" link is dead.

That's it for now.

As always, thx stidyup for your hard work.

Use any of the links that stidyup posted... they should work unless of course you already have a malware that is blocking you from getting there, in which case you will also be unable to get to other antivirus / antispyware websites as well.

AVG Free has new version, 7.5 see here:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus...e/lng/us/tpl/v5

Also there is a AVG free antispyware if we want to add that. It was formerly EWIDO, which AVG purchased.

Windows Defender is now out of beta and is a full free product with a new download file:

Any news or information on updating the new release of UBCD 4.0? Any testing and modifying the UBCD Updater for UBCD 3 batch file out there?

Note.... to avoid confusion on what you are refering too..

UBCD - is a DOS based boot CD with utils to repair / recover computers

UBCD4Win - is a Windows based boot CD to also repair / recover computers and also can include UBCD with it...

So when talking about UBCD4Win please don't call it UBCD since that is another project

If you are refering to the DOS UBCD v4... use the forum search, there are answers if you take the time to look for them.

Yes, I am aware of the Dos vs Win I was referring to the Dos version that has 4.0 out. I use UBCD4Win as the Windows designation. I looked through the forums last night before posting but did not officially search. I'll do that next. THanks for the reply and clarifying for others that may have been confused.

Recieved a PM with the following...

QUOTE (RShea)
Can you assist me in finding the UBCD 4.0 Dos updater info? You mentioned searching and I have used the forum search and Google and am not finding anything. Thank you

You should have posted this request in the forum instead of as a PM to me or anyone, you may have gotten an answer a lot sooner and the PM function isn't made for providing personalized support, its for communicating issues that are private in nature.

I found the following using a simple search term... "UBCD 4.0"

See this post http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showto...amp;#entry44479 on how to change the v3.4 to v4.0 U UBCD multiboot plugin.

Note, while we have included a method to add UBCD to UBCD4Win because of requests made by users, we do not provide any support for the use of the software in the plugins... for that support you must go to the website for each product included.

@Earl1983,

I removed your link in the post above. Lavasoft doesn't release Ad-Aware as an SFX archive and I don't think http://file2upload.net is a valid mirror.

I really hope I can find some time to update this and rescueme. I've just not found any spare to get round to it yet.
